Kissing by Melanie Marks

2.0

Melanie Marks' "Kissing" is a collection of three short stories that, if given proper expansion, would've made wonderfully written stories. Instead, they somewhat missed the mark in their brevity. In "The Kiss," a young woman becomes angry when her friend distances himself from her unexpectedly. In "The Love Song," a young songwriter finds inspiration when she realizes a confidant truly loves her. And finally, "Stalking Aiden" has a young woman whose devotion doesn't go unnoticed for the right reasons. I'm a little torn because I think each story had some believability but didn't quite get off the ground in terms of development and punch in each individual story. Still, I was able to enjoy it on some levels for what it offered.

Overall score: 2/5
