Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas by Hunter S. Thompson

5.0

This book is fast paced, insane, brilliant and awesome. The narrator doesn't "Show" the reader, he grabs your hand and drags you off at a full run. The disjointed narration made the twisted drug reality seem very realistic. I loved the moments when an unfortunate bystander was dragged into their madness and instead of acknowledging their own twisted outward projection, they accuse the onlooker of being on drugs or paranoid.
There was a beautiful smoothness to the outrageousness; the narrator glossed over giant talking lizards as if describing the wall paint or some other mundane detail.
