The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma by Bessel van der Kolk
5.0
I finished this book a few days ago, and I'm still processing what I read. The book itself is an enjoyable read. It's much more narrative than I expected, which, for me, is a good thing, because that makes science more memorable and easier to to digest.
But as someone with significant past trauma, I also struggled to read The Body Keeps Score, because it dredged up many difficult memories. Ultimately, though, I think it has given me hope that I can find treatment, and even though it doesn't read like a self-help book, The Body Keeps Score has (hopefully) set me on a course toward a better life.
