Bourbon Breakaway by Sienna Judd

5.0

Bourbon Breakaway is the 3rd book in the Starlight Canyon series by @siennajuddauthor following the Hunter family through their small town life one and off the ranch. This book follows Jolie (Joey) Hunter and Ashton Dane. A brother’s best friend, hockey romance. About two childhood friends reconnecting after years when Ashton’s divorce lands him back in Starlight Canyon and he sees little Joey Hunter has grown in the 13 years that has passed. The more time he spend around her the more he sees what coming home really feels like. After promising to always be her friend Ashton is seeing what he left behind years ago and wants nothing more than to make things right now, but something seems different about Joey and Ashton won’t stop until he finds out and gets the girl.

I loved this story to no surprise. Starlight Canyon has slowly become one of my favorite small town series. Every book in this series features such a unique set of characters and dynamic that has you flipping through to the end at 3am just to watch two people get their happily every after. I love getting Joeys story the other girl in a family of boys and how her fierceness and stubbornness shines through in this book. Jolie has loved Ashton as long as she con remember but the ups and downs of the past few years have gotten to her and her friend has always known what she needed. I love seeing Ashton be her friend first. He becomes her sounding board and biggest support system while she navigates her mental health.

Ashton has made bad choices in the past but once he realizes nothing can stop him from having Joey he dives in head first and loves so fiercely. Ashton and Jolie have to fight for each other even through harsh secrets that threaten to tear them apart. I love the sense of family between everyone in this book. Reading about supportive brothers and sisters who truly just want the best for each other. There is a little bit of OW drama for anyone who doesn’t always love it like me but I think this was done in such a way that I couldn’t help but root for the hero and heroine just a bit more.
