101 Tips for Child Development: Proven Methods for Raising Children and Improving Kids Behavior with Whole Brain Training by Bukky Ekine-Ogunlana
5.0
Good book for raising well rounded kids
I enjoyed reading this book which is great for helping your child/ren develop good emotional intelligence and help nurture them from foundation years right through to teen years. This book helps parents and carers have realistic expectations and reminds us that self-care is as essential to parenting as other aspects. This book does slightly tend towards a nuclear family but as a single parent I found the majority of the book applicable to myself as well. I particularly liked the tips for using social media positively with children instead of seeing it as an enemy, stealing children and making them unresponsive zombies.
It also covers creating a safe environment for children and helping them keep themselves safe for example by identifying 'safe' adults and so on.
If you have a teenager then this book is good to read along with Life Strategies for Teens - I read it before this one (although I'd recommend reading this first and then that). The reads are fairly quick and they are well set out so you can always dip back in if need be. Would definitely recommend.
