Playing Nice by JP Delaney

5.0

Really fantastic book. Absolutely riveting. There are so many ups and downs. I could really see most of this happening in real life.

Spoiler
The story is about babies switched at birth. One of the families finds out when their son is in the hospital for tests and then they alert the other family. At first things seem amicable, but soon it’s clear that Miles is over-stepping. Once Pete and Maddie try to establish boundaries, they come to find out that Miles has initiated court papers to get custody of both boys. They even had the birth certificate changed on the sly. As the court case progresses, it becomes clear that Miles is a psychopath and has hurt people who don’t agree with him. Luckily, several things come to light during the court proceedings and in the end, Maddie and Pete are allowed to keep their son. That’s when things get really crazy and Miles tells Pete that he will kill both kids if he can’t have them. In the end, Maddie, a psychopath herself ends up killing Miles and they live happily ever after.

The major part of the drama had to do with the court case. It didn’t seem as if anything was going their way and I was resigned to the idea that Miles would win, as it seems he wins everything in life.

This was a really amazing book. I really enjoyed it.
