The Vine Witch by Luanne G. Smith

3.0

This was mediocre. The best part was the vineyard used as a setting. I thought it was interesting and I wish the process of making wine was explored in more detail. The setting is completely forgotten halfway through the book. The romance was average, I wasn't neither invested or annoyed.

None of the characters were particularly interesting. The protagonist, Elena, was okay at first, then she proved herself as an idiot after admitting she thought that she had all the knowledge in the world about magic, and was surprised when she found that there were spells she didn't know about.

The "twist" villain was obvious from the beginning. The author is not very good at writing action, so the ending wasn't very exciting. I also predicted the truth about who cursed Elena from the beginning, but this one was less obvious.

I have no interest in continuing the series and I don't recommend this book, but if you insist on reading it get the audiobook, the narrator is great.
