Love Reborn by Yvonne Woon

3.0

I approached this book with hesitation because, although I now don’t remember much about the first two books in the series, I did not enjoy Woon’s previous books. The first one felt far too similar to Meyer’s Twilight.
However apprehensive I began I actually soon found myself enjoying the story enough to want to find out what happened. I was particularly intrigued to learn who Monsieur was. I was intrigued by the loss of senses that was required in order to get to the Netherworld. This was something that I thought was new and unique to this story. I also liked the girls who were the ancestors of the ninth sister, they were mysterious and deadly.
There were however some parts that were predictable. Firstly I never doubted that
SpoilerRenée and Dante would get new souls and then meet each other again. Secondly the moment Theo attempted to read Anya’s cards and misread that her mother was ill, it was obvious that it was actually Anya that was dying and that was why she was on this journey to find the Netherworld with them.

One thing that confused me was the way that they seemed to be travelling across Europe. I still have no idea what route they took or how they managed to take it so quickly.
Overall this book was far better than the previous two, but still wasn’t the best thing ever.
