Southern Bombshell by Jessica Peterson

5.0

Milly’s story is my favorite of the series! I loved the Romeo/Juliet aspect, and the absolute swooniest, grouchy Nate.

There are so many deeper level topics addressed in this story: Marginless living, taking the guilt and responsibility that belongs to someone else, honesty…

Millie and her mom, June, are examples of women spending their lives always busy for the sake of others, margins so full there is no room for breathing. Millie, with Nate’s help, learns to once again live a life with margin. And June learns that lesson as well.

Nate has the weight of the world- well, his father- on his shoulders. Nate’s sense of responsibility means he has taken on his dads self-induced trouble, and walks away from his own happiness to protect Millie. Luckily, enough is enough. And in the process, he finds a family that’ll be there to live and support him, rather than belittle and use him.

Bravo Jessica!
