What should have been the happiest day of his life, turns into the worst day when Evan's long time girlfriend hemorrhages during childbirth. Shunned by both his parents and his late girlfriends, Evan is unsure how he will balance being a single father, working full time, and his grief, but help comes in the most unlikely of people--his aunt's former husband, Simon.

After spending several weeks trying to get Evan on his feet, Simon returns back to NYC and to his tattoo shop, but cannot get Evan or baby Remy out of his head. He decides to sell his shop and move back to the small town that ostracized him for being gay and covering it up by marrying his best friend, in order to help Evan full time. & as the two grow closer, some not so familial feelings spark between the two.

Evan's story is beyond heartbreaking, but he was so resilient and such an amazing father. I loved that Simon stepped up, even though he didn't have to, and was always so patient and kind as Evan struggled to navigate his grief, parenthood, and his feelings. He was such an unflinching constant and safe place for Evan, and must be protected at all costs!
