Kill Switch by Penelope Douglas

4.0

Penelope Douglas knocks it out of the park with the fourth installment of the devils night series.

If you are like me, and thought that Dameon Torrance could never be redeemed, you were both right and wrong. I've never had such conflicting feelings of sympathy and hate for a character in my life. Overall, though I felt more sympathetic towards Dameon.

It was extremely interesting to circle back to the very event that basically brought about the entire series. This is why all of the best friends ended up, going off to prison. Hearing what actually happened, and what happened earlier in Dameon and Winter's childhood between was extremely eye-opening towards the rest of the series. I actually really love that you didn't find any of this out till closer to the end of the series. You learn a lot of backstory about Damon that absolutely opens your eyes to why he is the way he is. He definitely has a bit of a sociopath feel to him throughout the series. And with a good reason. When you are raised by a
bastard father, and the type of mother figure that Dameon is raised by you completely understand why he's so broken. I'm not sure what it says about me that Dameon is absolutely my book boyfriend out of all of these books.

It was extremely refreshing to see so much humanity within him. He clearly loves winter, and it was actually kind of hard and gut wrenching to watch him go through the motions of discovering just how much he actually did love her. I did get a little frustrated with winter from time to time for not giving him more grace, but I had to continually remind myself that she was not reading the book she was "living it" and wasn't privy to all the information that I, the reader, was privy to.

Overall, this was one of my favorite books out of the entire series. I gave this book a 4/5 out of the series. I will definitely continue reading.
