i am amazed by zofia’s display of strength and determination to find her sibling whom she dearly loved, inspite her memory lapses. i have a little sister and i, too, would search high and low just to reunite with her. and honestly, if i witnessed my own family being sent to the gas chamber, or tortured, starved and killed for years and years, i would never recover from the mental damage it would cause me. but zofia lived through it all and it warms my heart that there are many zofias out there in the world, who remained strong, and even though the war has broken more than their minds, their spirit and will to go on was unbreakable. i was crying towards the ending because zofia and abek were just kids, too young to suffer this kind of inhumane treatment but they just did whatever they could to survive. there is also a plot twist that i did not see coming that made me believe in miracles.
