This Is Assisted Dying: A Doctor's Story of Empowering Patients at the End of Life by Stefanie Green

challenging emotional hopeful informative reflective fast-paced

4.5

Dr Green’s book is an easy read in terms of medical literacy—you do not need to be a doctor to understand and follow—but could definitely be a difficult one for anyone who has recently lost a loved one or has difficulty with the topic of death. It does not shy away from the emotional difficulties surrounding assisted dying, but is not particularly graphic in terms of the descriptions of death. This book will force you to challenge your own opinions on assisted death, but not aggressively (definitely not at first).
The book also has statistics and changes to the laws since the events in the book took place, as well as recommendations for wider reading.
