Wonder by R.J. Palacio

"Everyone in the world should get a standing ovation at least once in their life because we all overcometh the world" - Auggie

That quote shall forever resound in me because the first time I read it, I was overwhelmed and it hit me hard...I almost felt like crying! In fact, Wonder is literally a wonderful and amazing book by R.J. Palacio. I'm so glad I read the book and it is always better to "err in the side of kindness".

I just finished the book and I'm a mess right now - my mind can hardly put together all the feels that are floating in me right now. But! Wonder is a book the world needs to read and acknowledge. The book has a lot to tell you about one specific person through the eyes of many. It has an unavoidable message and even thought it's a universal one, I have to say, it isn't easy to be "kind" in certain situations with certain people. But that is not all...

Uniqueness is a dominant factor in us human beings. a one-in-four-million i someone with something extraordinary, something different - which one might see it or one might feel it. It's not easy to be "ordinary"; it's not easy to act ordinary when you know you are "special" in an ordinary way. Auggie, even though he's a 10 year-old kid, has a wiseness that moves you, breaks you and heals you in the end. Every character in this book has something to say, something to share, a story to tell to make us understand that there's no one-way-street to be "humane".

Lastly, the book is funny - the kid is funny! Has many geeky references which I enjoyed, so many beautiful quotes and the character development of a specific character really blew me! People really do surprise us, and this book has shown me that. It's a beautiful book. It has been a pleasure to have been acquainted so deeply with August - the wonder!

"You truly are a wonder!"
