This deeply moving story was set in Poland in 1941 and is told from alternating perspectives of a Jewish mother and daughter after they flee their home due to a Nazi invasion.  While this story is heartbreaking and full of tough choices, it is also about the power of love between a mother & daughter, how music connects people, and the length that one goes through to protect an innocent child from war.  The ending, while beautiful, was too convenient for me.
