Tyranny of the Urgent by Charles E. Hummel

4.0

Tyranny of the Urgent offers food for thought on how we all spend our time and get deceived at times into thinking we are indispensable when it comes to the latest busyness. Who do we think we are, Jesus?! I'm committing to testing this process by logging exactly how I spend my time over the next couple of weeks. Then I will access if whether I'm spending the time I have the way the Lord would want me to. What can be cut? What needs to be added? I'll be praying and asking the Lord for help along the way.

Epilogue: I logged my activities for three days and discovered that the logging itself was a form of "tyranny." So I quit! However, I am striving to waste less time on social media, checking email, and randomly scrolling through apps or webpages. Reading actual books has been a better use of my time. And I'm striving to make more time for prayer and writing. My life and my schedule is a work-in-progress.
