Writing this review I have read Annihilation twice and I definitely would recommend going at the Southern Reach Trilogy for more than one read. If you decide that after a read through of this first one that you don't want to continue and that it may be too much that's alright! The trilogy does continue to develop but the others are somewhat separated and the first could possibly be treated like a standalone (like the movie).
It's definitely the kind of psychological that makes you stop and think. But as mentioned earlier it does get easier to follow and digest a second time around. Fantastically bizarre.

Graphic: Body horror and Death
Moderate: Suicide attempt and Suicide
