This series is another great idea from scholastic to draw readers in, and get them to read a new book each month. The series is made up of 12 books with one book coming out each month. The story follows a normal Australian teen Callum Ormond who is approached by a stranger on New Year’s Eve and is told that he must evade the people who killed his father. If he can make it through the next 365 days he will be ok. Cal must decipher the clues that his sick father left for him as he was dying.

The books are action packed and I like that Cal is a completely normal teenager. He doesn’t have a lot of money, so he must survive on what little he has. This means he sleeps in run down abandoned places and depends on help from his friend Boges. Each month is a new book with each chapter being a different day. One of the neat things about this book is that the page numbers run in descending order so they start at the highest number and end at one. When I picked up the first book I had to double check that it was actually the first book, but when I flipped through I understood. The nice thing about the page numbers is that you never have to think about how many pages you have left (no math!).

I think kids and adults alike will like this series. If you are a fan of the 39 clues series or even the TV show 24 give these books a try. They will keep you entertained and you will be glad that the entire series is already so that you won’t have to wait for the next installment.
