The low aggregate score of this book made me very intrigued and I had to find out for myself whether this book was really as bad as everyone says.
In my opinion, it’s actually a good book with poor marketing that hasn’t reached the right readers. Book covers matter, and this is a great example.
To judge this book by its cover art and title, one would likely assume that it is of the Hallmark movie variety. Perhaps following the mishaps of a quirky but lovable bookseller.
Instead, what you find is a deeply unlikeable, horrible woman at the center of this story who is the hero in her own mind. She is rude and pedantic and narcissistic, and just when you think she can’t get any worse, she somehow does.
And YET, I found myself feeling horribly sorry for this woman. I was rooting for her. I wanted her to WAKE UP and do better!
I genuinely enjoyed this and I think if it found the right audience this book could do well
