Slippery Creatures by KJ Charles

It has been a bit of time since I last read a book by [a:K.J. Charles|7123498|K.J. Charles|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1418032373p2/7123498.jpg], so I was eager to get my hands on [b:Slippery Creatures|54451235|Slippery Creatures (The Will Darling Adventures #1)|K.J. Charles|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1594297365l/54451235._SX50_.jpg|77319427], although I did hold off until the audio version came out because I am a sucker for the British accents. I also was excited about the time period of the novel as well since I have seen a few TV series recently that have also taken place during the same time and can really picture the atmosphere quite well. Like all KJC books, the plot was very well developed and clever, and the narrative flowed easily. Whether it be the witty banter between the MCs or running away from danger, the story was exciting, interesting and not ever monotonous or routine. It was full of unique and unpredictable twists and turns that just made the book so much fun to read. I really liked Will's character, the sort of relatable every-man just trying to get by best he can. He made it easy to be in his corner throughout the whole situation. Kim was so much more difficult to read. First you think he's great, then he is an awful person, but then seems OK again, but then things happen and you aren't sure. It was enough to get my head spinning. I'm still not sure what I think of him, but I am sure there is more to tell and I would love to hear it. This was a great start to an unexpectedly original trilogy. I couldn't expect less from such a beloved author and I am eager to see what comes next for Will and Kim.
