An engrossing and thorny novel, with shades of Tár and Ottessa Moshfegh. Haunting and uncomfortable; well worth a read despite some writing that felt to me self-consciously literary, and an ending that seems to sidestep some of the book’s well-built character arcs, climax, and themes. The actual last sentence, however, is a real ripper.
