I liked the first two parts, but found them more journalistic and less historical than I would have liked. The book is really kicked up a notch in the final section where Grann questions some of the narrative tidiness of the rest of the book, particularly the role of the FBI, by stepping back and narrating his own experience researching the book. Overall, worth a read.
