Hominids by Robert J. Sawyer

4.0

I'm working through reading all of the winners of the Hugo Award for Best Novel. I kept passing on this one because the description of the book didn't sound appealing. I am very pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this, though. The premise turned out to actually be interesting and the story telling sufficiently engaging. There are a few pieces that feel a little hamfisted and preachy. One of the protagonist's major emotional traumas early in the book feels like a plot device and a little out of place. Overall, though, this is an enjoyable book.
