Fitzgerald really outdid himself with the writing in this one. I underlined so many lines that there is barely a page without some sort of mark on it. A story of three people in one relationship told over three “books”, each slightly focusing on one of the characters. What is beautiful about this is the different perspectives give you a well rounded view of the relationship and all the struggles and strengths it has. It also allows the reader to empathize with each of the characters, bond with them, and find things they have in common with them so by the end you are just as wound up, bruised, and confused as the rest of them. It is real and yet so poetic at the same time. Fitzgerald never fails.
