The Atlas Six by Olivie Blake
5.0
Okay so I had seen this book a few times on Tik Tok and the plot seemed right up my dark academic/classical alley, and while I was at the Barnes and Noble at the Grove I came across the last signed copy from a signing that Olivie Blake had coincidentally done the day before. So of course I decided to buy it.
I have never read a book and then immediately wanted to re-read it. With most books I read and love, I usually need a minute to process. But with this book I wanted to jump right back in because I knew while reading it that I was missing things but I didn't want to re-read because I was so interested in what was next to come.
And without spoiling anything, I thought that Reina's POVs would initially be ones I wanted to skip because she was the least intriguing of the six, I found myself still incredibly invested and interested in her storyline as well. No portion of this book made me want to skip and read ahead, which for my ADHD brain is not the case for a lot of books.
This book is so incredibly well written, every single one of the characters is well developed and interesting in their own right, and somehow you ship everyone with each other? The dialogue is god tier, which after having read a bunch of not so great books this year I am coming to understand just how much I value authors that can write actual conversations. This book is definitely more character focused than it is plot focused, but that's because the characters are the plot. You're interested in them and what they do and their histories and the choices they make.
I'm so incredibly excited for the next book, and congrats to Olivie on the recent-ish birth of her child! Also, there's sketches in the book done by an artist that goes by Little Chmura and she's been slowly doing colored versions of them and posting them to her social medias, so I recommend checking those out as well.
