Up front and honest...the cover of this book is smoking hot.
I will also give the author credit for being up front and honest in the synopsis of what her subject matter is. Gemma doesn't try to hide her characters' flaws behind catchy phrases or hot book covers, yes I'm gawking again. She is very clear that this book contains cheaters, that no one is an innocent party, so reader beware.
With that gut churning knowledge, I still dove into the book, even perhaps a bit more intrigued with the warning than I would have going in blind.
So without further ado I'll stop staring at the delicious cover and get on with my review....sigh.
Julia, aka Jules, opens Trashy Foreplay by confessing she cheated on her long time boyfriend, Chris. She's heartbroken over his leaving her, but soon you come to realize the relationship headed towards failure and probably should have ended a long time ago. Not that cheating is ever an answer, but perhaps it was her subconscious way of ending the relationship that was on the path to doomsville.
Jules last minute decides to uproot her life and boards an airplane to live with her best friend halfway across the country. It is upon this flight that Jules meets a stranger that changes her life forever. One that she promised herself she'd never break certain rules for ever again, but this mysterious stranger seemed fated to cross her path and she found fate hard to resist.
Cash Montgomery was married, but discovered his wife had been cheating on him during a traveling business meeting. He knew his business had begun to take priority lately and perhaps his marriage had taken a back burner, but he still loved his wife so he never once suspected that she felt any different. Seeing the evidence first hand was like having ice water splashed in his face, a cold reality call that he needed to fix.
Boarding a flight back home his mind was on fixing his marriage, that was until fate intervened and he met Jules. He never recalled having that instant connection with anyone in his life before he met her, but something about her kept pulling him back in. He knew he needed to walk away or he'd make the same mistake his wife currently was and walking away from the one person who he felt a real connection to was the hardest thing he'd ever done, that was until fate kept intervening and brought Jules back to him again and again. How is a man supposed to walk away from temptation over and over?
The story is very well written and as the author warns, there are no innocent parties involved. Trashy Foreplay is a sensual back and forth pull of "No, this is wrong" and "Yes, just do it because it's naughty" type of thinking. This is the first in the trashy series.
