Some Like It Hot by Emma Foxx

5.0

Emma Foxx is back again with another Spicy Why Choose romance set in the world of the Chicago Racketeers professional hockey team. Elsie Starling is a curvy baddie with fierce pinup style, and on New Year's Eve, Blake Wilder (the grumpy wannabe hermit Racketeers goalie) finally decides to make his move after wanting her for a while. Things go sideways when they are stuck in a stopped elevator, but they also start to heat up. Aidan Burke is a cinnamon roll of a Chicago Fire Department Lieutenant who is dispatched to the scene to perform the rescue, and he gets quite the eye full in the process. Simon Armstrong is Elise's British Billionaire former boss whose world was rocked after they shared a steamy kiss and Elise ghosted. Seeing her on the kiss cam at a Racketeers game (the team his cousin Nathan owns) has him once again in full pursuit.
One of my favorite things about Emma Foxx is that they write incredible high spice books that don't shy away from deep emotion and complex characters. Yes, this book is very steamy, but it's also got great ADHD rep, an incredible found family, and men who would do anything for their partners. These are flawed people, but when the four of them become one, they make an incredible unit. I fully enjoyed the journey to their HEA. As a side note, I actually feel a bit of a personal tie to this story, as I helped suggest the title of the book in answer to a question put out on the author's newsletter while they were writing it. I'm looking forward to more stories in this universe, and the tease in the epilogue for a future book featuring Blake's sister and couple of hot firefighters (and maybe more?) definitely has my interest!
Big thanks to The Author Agency and Emma Foxx for the ARC opportunity!
