(I thought it was a really good book and I enjoyed it!)

This is my favorite work of Ali Hazelwood! There’s still the usual dislike about her writing like Jack being described as a huge, tall man over and over and over again (with each description, I add another muscle mass in my imagination of Jack until he’s looking like a gym bro dieting on steroids but worse) to the point I’m slightly turned off by it and the all of her characters being almost perfect carbon copies of one another, sure, but the differences, albeit small, that were there were ones I really enjoyed. For instance, the usage of tropes in this book had a bit more subtlety compared to her previous books. The romance was domestic which was cute despite it being insta-love on Jack’s part.

What I liked most was Elsie’s character growth! I was empathetic to her struggle with honesty and expressing herself. I wanted to protect her and hug her. She’s so precious! I also loved how Jack challenged and helped her to overcome her struggles.

Lastly, the end felt too short and sudden. Disappointing but not too much. I just wished we had a bit more time to see Elsie’s growth and her relationship with Jack with it.
