Anya's Ghost by Vera Brosgol

3.0

Anya's Ghost might seem simple, but to me, the restrained use of words attests to Vera Brosgol's facility in graphic novel story-telling. It was easy to discern her characters' feelings and motivations through well-designed series of panels. Brosgol tells a coming-of-age/1.5 generation immigrant experience story that rings true with the correct balance of art and words, although the wrap-up is a bit too neat for my liking. Anya's Ghost is a quick, worthwhile read.
