The Facemaker: A Visionary Surgeon's Battle to Mend the Disfigured Soldiers of World War I by Lindsey Fitzharris

emotional informative inspiring medium-paced

5.0

Phenomenal writing and storytelling. It was genuinely hard to put down. Some descriptions were graphic, but not gratuitously or grotesquely so. A fascinating read about the start of modern plastic surgery while honoring the men who were operated on and the amount of interdisciplinary work needed to rebuild faces and lives.
