The Fire Dance, by Helene Tursten

3.0

I've enjoyed previous Detective Irene Huss novels, but this one left me somewhat dissatisfied. The plot seemed to be thin, and Irene seemed to be somewhat one dimensional. These are not bloody like many of her male contemporaries, but it did seem to be lacking any real edge to the story. Although not a long book, it didn't keep my attention. I found my mind wandering. In addition, at the very end, Irene's husband suddenly comes down with amnesia and leaves $2000 kronor and his cell phone in a grocery store. I'm not sure why this was even a part of the book. It seemed almost like an afterthought. The story concerns the death of a young dancer whose body is found burned. Irene remembers investigating a fire in her mother's and stepfather's home when she was a young girl. There as never a satisfactory conclusion to the case. Has history repeated itself? This one just wasn't as good as the previous ones by the author. There was something missing. The plot seemed scattered. Irene seemed scattered. Perhaps the author was also?
