Agatha Raisin Omnibus: The Quiche of Death, The Potted Gardener, The Vicious Vet and The Walkers of Dembley, by M.C. Beaton

2.0

I was hoping to discover another mystery series I could enjoy the whole of... but this one is afflicted by sexism and racism, possibly (but not certainly) limited by the narrative perspective of Agatha herself. Many elements of the story are interesting, but I found these limitations grating, and ditto the treatment of gender and sexuality as though they were the same thing (?!). It's a shame, because the send-up of Christie's conventions and riffing on the late-twentieth-century relationship of London and its suburbs are quite fun.
