It started out slowly and confusing, which I was fine with, but this continued for the first 150 pages or so. The book was full of metaphors and tried to be “deep”, but really the only part that ever really hit me was between CanIHelpYou? and Ian.

I will give the writer credit with the names and how she went about them. I thought it was a clever twist to not give the characters a name but a title.

My biggest problem of the whole book was the message trying to be told. At first it seems like a racial issue, but all the characters are white. I can sorta see that being the point but it just didn’t work. The thing with The Freak was that it didn’t make sense who, what, where, why, or how she was till the last 50 pages which annoyed me.

Lastly, I felt as a reader I was being attacked constantly by the author when she went into second POV. The whole book was on the defensive side of something I didn’t understand or know. Overall the writing and story just didn’t come through and deliver.
