Not entirely sure why tiktok had this down as the scariest horror. It's more gross and disturbing than anything else.
It's difficult to decide if this is a good story or if the author's gross choices trick you into thinking it's a good splatterpunk book. There's an overuse of alliteration that's hard to ignore once you notice it. I haven't quite finished the book (I have 100 pages left) so I'm struggling to make my mind up. So far overall, I would say the story is an interesting concept, but with all the violence and gore I would have preferred a different set of characters. Maybe a completely different setting.
One thing the author did well was create a villain easy to hate with no redeemable qualities. Even without the gross sexual obsession she had with her mum, she was still unlikable. So that but with the shit could have been left out of the story in my opinion.
