The Serpent and the Wings of Night by Carissa Broadbent

5.0

Ok… the hype is real y’all. I was immediately sucked into this book and I usually can’t listen to fantasy via audio. I absolutely loved the story and characters. I am vibing with this 5 star review because I felt the plot and characters were so intriguing and I couldn’t easily predict what would happen next. There were some things I wished Oraya would have guessed because I could see them coming, but overall I felt like this world had so many possibilities and politics at play, Oraya operated on what she knew and had the right amount of confidence and doubt in her decisions.
I was so engrossed in this book, I ignored all of the lunches I packed at work just to sit in my car and listen while I grabbed food. . (Super glad all the spicy moments happened as I was driving in rainstorms so I wasn’t worried about all the cars around me hearing my book haha.)
I’m actually really glad I listened instead of read this one because there were so many edge-of-your-seat moments that I know I would have read-skimmed over without being able to help it. The audiobook forced me to slow down and listen in agonizing pain during certain moments and forced me to savor everything that was happening.
Also, it’s about time we get a good vampire fantasy romance because I am always here for vampires.
Totally worth the hype.
