Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut

The crazy makes sense, the sad is funny, it's all so overwhelming that it feels like real life.

My copy was falling apart, which only added to the reading experience. Will definitely read another one but will also give myself a short break beforehand... otherwise I might also get abducted by a flying saucer.

On other days we have wars as horrible as any you've ever seen or read about. There isn't anything we can do about them, so we simply don't look at them. We ignore them. We spend eternity looking at pleasant moments - like today at the zoo. Isn't this a nice moment?

If what Billy Pilgrim learned from the Tralfamadorians is true, that we all live forever, no matter how dead we may sometimes seem to be, I am not overjoyed. Still - if I am going to spend eternity visiting this moment and that, I'm grateful that so many of those moments are nice.
