This was a good change of pace for me since I’ve been reading lots of rom com type books.

It makes me wonder if there is something like Niveous in existence. I wouldn’t put it past this society. Reading the author’s note was sad, that she felt so othered by her classmates that it drove her to write this book.

The book itself was equal parts suspenseful and predictable for me. We kind of learn about Chiamaka and Devon as we go, so for awhile the texts are surprising and it’s suspenseful waiting to see what will come out. Once we get more concrete in the proof of racism it becomes more predictable. Like the teachers and headmaster being in on it. Jamie being a huge part of it. The second the news person said it’s an interesting story I knew she was part of it too. That’s really the only reason it’s 4 instead of 5 stars for me, is because I could predict what was happening.

Really good and worthwhile read though. The twist of Aces being a whole society was great.
