Full disclosure, I grew up on this series so my opinion is necessarily biased.
I'm of the view that there is no such thing as a bad Asterix book ... but some volumes, like this one, are are pretty good.
This is one of the volumes that my library had in both English and French! As a child, I borrowed this in either language regularly. I think I borrowed both at the same time at least once to compare. As an adult, I still enjoy reading it, although I fully acknowledge the moral of the story is a bit muddy (everything in the village by necessity resets, ready for a new adventure).
