It's a YA riff on Stephen King's Misery, y'all! I loved this - though it's not perfect. It leaves a lot of loose ends and doesn't quite satisfy with the climax but it's not the kind of mystery where you're wondering whodunnit; it's the kind of mystery where you're wondering whether the bad guys are gonna get what's coming to them. And they do - just not on-page, so it didn't feel very substantial.
But I loved Bridget and Ajay and Bob and the snippets from the fictional Swords and Shadows books. There was a great focus on friendship and working together and how books build community. A mystery with heart that has me itching to pick up Henry's other YA thrillers.
