The Satapur Moonstone by Sujata Massey

3.0

Fine, but suffers a touch from second book syndrome. The preceding book really set the bar high by including a peek at a different culture, an intriguing mystery and a strong female protagonist through a very interesting story. This follow-up deals with many of the same themes and contains a vast amount of setup during the majority of the book before the mystery really kicks into gear during the last act. I liked learning so much about Perveen's history in the first book, yet there is sadly little insight like that here. Although I will probably pick up the next installment of this series, I know now to temper my expectations in advance.
