Oona Out of Order by Margarita Montimore

1.0

Abandoned around the 31% mark - though I was tempted to bail as early as 15%.

Love-love-love me a time-hop, but this particular tale was…not good. Mediocre writing, buckets of awkward/forced pop culture references (HEY, DO YOU REMEMBER THE 90s? SO DOES THE AUTHOR!), a painfully stupid protagonist, some weird fatphobia, and…well, just no compelling reason for me to stick around past 31%.

Y’all, I really did not like this book.

PS - BUT ALSO…when Oona couldn’t bring herself to play a guitar, even though she WANTED to play the guitar, because her superdreamydreamboat (or so I’m told) boyfriend was a guitarist and “it would be disloyal to” him to pick up a guitar, so she vowed to keep guitar playing a “dream out of reach”, like, what stupid sh*t did I just read? There were a number of passages that led me to ask that question, but the GUITAR AS BETRAYAL incident stuck in my mind.
