This story has such a quietness to it that makes it hard to put down. I still question whether the dynamics are ones I can truly support - it’s fiction, yes, but as a person with a psych degree, it’s a little outside my comfort zone. We have Shirotani with a severe phobia of germs and a doctor that quickly blended a form of treatment with personal feelings. Kurose is aware that Shirotani is dependent on him and encouraged it. It’s a codependency that, from a story standpoint is interesting, but from a practical standpoint is worrying.

If I turn my brain off, the dynamics are engaging, but it’s hard to turn my brain off.

The artwork is lovely, the story is well paced and an interesting concept.
