The Magicians' Guild by Trudi Canavan

3.0

Not a bad start to a trilogy. I like my fantasy books a bit darker, and more complex than this. [a:Trudi Canavan|15890|Trudi Canavan|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1194378660p2/15890.jpg] has woven a nice little world of magicians and intrigue, although, it does lack depth, or character development. I can't say much for the language either. I am hoping this will be rectified in the later books. I mean this especially for Sonea, as being the lead, she hasn't impressed me at all so far. Part one of the book was mildly annoying, as the chase went on an on, with less purpose, and the story progressed with little speed. Part 2 definitely picks up more pace, and is much more interesting. If the readers can trudge through the first part, then the book does get better.
Albeit, the entire plot, is a little predictable, it is an enjoyable, light read. I would pick up the next books to know more of what happens next. A good recommendation for YA Fantasy lovers, who like their lores and worlds light.
