Dracul by J.D. Barker, Dacre Stoker

3.0

Historical take, not as suspenseful as it could've been.

Tying in Bram Stoker's history was an interesting take on the Dracula story. My biggest gripe was the journal nature of the first two-thirds of the novel. It tried to generate suspense during some of the characters' encounters with the undead, but being that we were literally reading a journal entry the character wrote after the encounter, we have prior knowledge that they clearly survived.
