3.5
Moderate: Alcoholism, Domestic abuse, Sexual assault, Suicide, and Suicide attempt
This novel thoroughly establishes the characters and conflicts you need to fully experience and enjoy the twists and turns of the mystery, although there were various moments that felt that it could have been more concise. The novel alternates between third person limited, focusing on the character Alex and first person POV for the character Lettie. This style change feels abrupt and was unenjoyable especially since Lettie felt like a caricature. The last 30 pages where everything comes together is the most exciting part of the entire novel and wraps everything up in a satisfying way.
