Struck By Lightning: The Carson Phillips Journal by Chris Colfer

3.0

It's hard for me to pinpoint exactly how I stand with this book. For the most part I liked it. The ideas and the cahracters were deep, but since it was in a journal format there wasn't a lot of character driven plot. It was more like feelings, and a little dialogue, and descriptions, all in the eyes of one person.

I think if this were in a traditional novel format I probably would have liked it better. It was a nice change of pace in some ways being that it was different.

Carson has a lot of issues, and he is kind of self-absorbed but it didn't really bother me because most of his thoughts made a lot of sense. He was very sarcastic and realistic.

I was enjoying myself until I got to the end, and now I'm just like "huh?" It ended abruptly, for one thing. Here we were plugging along and then it was like months later, one passage, and boom. Done. Over. The whole school was mad at Carson but we don't get any sort of resolution on that? What about prom? I think more scenes could have been worked in.
Also, the very end was rather....disconcerting.

I'll leave it at that.
