Dragonfall by L.R. Lam

4.0

I really enjoyed this book. I think Lam has a beautiful yet very different type of writing style. This book has multiple POVs but our main dragon Everan’s POV is specifically speaking to our other main character Arcady. It makes everything seem even more intimate once you really get into the story.

This book has such a classic high fantasy vibe yet at the same time it addresses things that are a bit more current in our own society today such as gender identity and gender roles. I thought all of these discussions were well thought out and spoken with care.

Now this is a slow paced book and I don’t say that as a negative. The world building and the self discovery I think played key roles in the overall story development. If it were fast paced then everything would seem extremely rushed and nothing would have felt important. I enjoyed Everan learning how to human lol.

This book is very unique in a lot of aspects and I am excited to read book 2 when it comes out!
