This was my least favourite Roald Dahl novel, which was disappointing because I usually enjoy his work. The way the topic of poaching was approached was uncomfortable at best. I was surprised to know that Dahl actually does not condone poaching, then, why display such a one sided stance on the act - I do not know. I would've ignored that if it wasn't for the fact I disliked most of the characters, perhaps due to clashing of opinions, but they felt like caricatures of themselves. I do know Dahl is prominent for creating caricatures, but this felt lazy and superficial. However, the character dynamics were sweet, and this is a fast paced, cozy novel - if anyone's looking for that.
