This book was challenging to get through yozo's character is one that gets progressively harder to relate to which I find to be the point the bold is called no longer human (or disqualified as a human being) which point to a time were he was human, a person. I think that yozo's downwords spiral is what disqualifies him, not any thoughts or feelinga bout others but his lack of change or willingness to change or take part in the world. He denies redemption at every step
His relationship with woman is interesting because it's horrendous he is deepy misogynistic yet somehow I think this is from his internalized hatred of himself yozo is kind of put in a woman's life he is someone who experiences sexual violence, he wears a mask because people would judge the real him, he is ignorant of the world (in the way a lot of media poetry girlhood innocence), he feels powerless with others. Yet he still continues to perpetuate the misogyny around him while relying on woman for everything in his life.
Overall a very interesting cautionary tale but I would have loved a longer epilogue the taste of finding out what others thought of yozo wasn't enough
