I originally had to put this book down because I couldn't get into it.
I came back when I was more in a mood to read a mystery fantasy.
Let me say that once I was in the mind to read a mystery fantasy, this book was stunningly amazing. I really enjoyed the second guessing, the magic involved, and the representation of schizophrenia in a way that shows the reality of living with it without demonizing it.
This book was really well written and I enjoyed the dynamic of all the characters with one another and the different levels of mystery that had to be solved. It also tackles a lot of class and racism issues.
I look forward to reading the second book when I pick that up. I'll be interested to see how it concludes in book two with how the main character learns more about herself.

Graphic: Body horror, Death, Violence, Medical trauma, Stalking, Murder, Schizophrenia/Psychosis , and Injury/Injury detail
This has some of the best representation of Schizophrenia I've ever read. It's not positive per see, but it's not stereotyping and it shows it how it really is.
